Chiropody and Podiatry
All Registered Podiatrists complete a degree in Podiatric Medicine. All foot and ankle conditions are treated, including simple skin and nail problems. As well as routine foot care the following is also provided:
- Ingrowing toenail surgery under local anaesthetic
This provides a cure to persistent painful and/or infected ingrown nails. This minor surgical procedure is comfortable and well tolerated by the patient. - Biomechanical evaluation, gait analysis and orthotic prescription
Many musculo-skeletal problems can be caused by dysfunction of the foot and ankle. Identifying these and correcting the way in which the foot and ankle works during walking and running can minimise the stresses placed on the body. This is usually achieved by placing a specially manufactured orthotic (functional foot insert) into the shoes. - Care of ‘at risk feet’
Foot problems associated with systemic medical conditions such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis can be treated.

In addition to this the podiatrist has closes links with podiatric (foot), orthopaedic and reconstructive surgeon.
