Physiotherapy

There are two Physiotherapists based at the clinic, one male and one female.

All Physiotherapists complete a medical degree in physiotherapy which is recognised by all Medical Councils worldwide. They offer a vast array of treatment techniques for most medical problems, including:

• musculo-skeletal injuries
• neurological problems
• pre and post op therapy
• spinal problems
• injuries arising from road traffic accidents
• advice on respiratory and cardiology conditions
• sports injuries
• hand problems
• all with a holistic approach.

Many knee and back problems are caused by incorrect foot function. The pateint therefore benefits from combined physiotherapy and podiatric intervention to rectify these problems. This approach is the key to successful treatment.

Podiatry/Chiropody

All Registered Podiatrists complete a degree in Podiatric Medicine. All foot and ankle conditions are treated, including simple skin and nail problems. As well as routine foot care the following is also provided:

• Ingrowing toenail surgery under local anaesthetic
  This provides a cure to persistent painful and/or infected ingrown nails. This minor surgical procedure is comfortable and well tolerated by the patient.
• Biomechanical evaluation, gait analysis and orthotic prescription
  Many musculo-skeletal problems can be caused by dysfunction of the foot and ankle. Identifying these and correcting the way in which the foot and ankle works during walking and running can minimise the stresses placed on the body. This is usually achieved by placing a specially manufactured orthotic (functional foot insert) into the shoes.
• Care of ‘at risk feet’

Foot problems associated with systemic medical conditions such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis can be treated.

In addition to this the podiatrist has closes links with podiatric (foot), orthopaedic and reconstructive surgeon.

Sports and Remedial Massage

The Sports and Remedial Massage Practitioner based at the clinic has a Diploma from the London School of Sports Massage and her governing body is The Sports Massage Association.

Sports and Remedial Massage is concerned with the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments and tendons) of the body. It helps to relieve niggling aches and pains before they develop into more serious overuse injuries. It is excellent for general relief of stress, tension and fatigue whether its occupational, recreational or sporting.

How can it help?

• Improves training and flexibility
  Increases blood flow to speed up recovery, assists in the removal of waste products, ensures full range of movement and increased muscle flexibility.
• Prevents injury
  Detects damage and imbalances earlier, reduces the likelihood of injury during exercise.
• Improves performance
  Pre event for relaxation or stimulation, Post event for relaxation and recovery.
• Improves self awareness and well being
  Helps relieve stress and tension, promoting relaxation. Improves posture and general body awareness.
